Boyne View House "The Village" is a new state-of-the-art Community Nursing Unit (CNU) adjacent to St. Mary’s Hospital, Drogheda, providing 30 bedrooms with accessible facilities. The development includes a link corridor annex to the existing hospital. The project also involved revisions to landscaping and site development to suit the new link corridor.
The CNU is a traditional masonry build with a single-storey nursing unit, ancillary buildings, and a covered walkway connecting the facilities. The construction features permeable paving, SuDS, brick, machine plaster, and cladding to the façade. The roof structures consist of slates, torch-on felt, and zinc, with large structural skylights. Internal walls are blockwork with sand and cement plaster and metal stud with a skim finish.
The development incorporates sustainable design elements such as SuDS, permeable paving, and energy-efficient features, achieving an A-level building energy rating. This development utilised BIM Level 2 which enhanced collaboration, reduced design conflicts, and improved overall project efficiency through precise 3D modelling and data integration.
