Fibonacci Square is a large-scale office development located on the former AIB Bankcentre site in Ballsbridge. It included the demolition of 4 office blocks and the construction of 2 six-storey office buildings with a triple-level basement, providing a total building area of 52,300m², including 33,400m² of net office space, parking for over 160 cars, and bicycle parking for 400 bikes. The development features a 33m link bridge connecting the buildings at the 3rd-floor level, as well as two-storey link bridges to adjacent buildings.
The building’s main frame consists of post-tensioned (PT) concrete slabs supported by in-situ RC core walls and columns. Setback levels use ComFlor slabs on Westok steel beams to reduce loading on the PT transfer beams at the 5th floor. The basement features in-situ RC slabs, ground beams, pad or piled foundations, and an RC liner wall against the secant pile wall. A landscaped RC podium spans over the carpark, with a sunken courtyard bringing light to the basement gym. We designed and detailed the RC elements, steel beams, and ComFlor decks, and coordinated closely with the PT subcontractor on slab interfaces.
