CS Consulting have been providing civil, structural & traffic engineering services on many projects in Hansfield since 2015.

The projects have included infill development within the existing Barnwell Estate and a new development to the east and south of the existing Barnwell Estate in Ongar comprising approx. 828 no. residential units (498 no. houses and 330 no. apartments). The site is part of the Hansfield Strategic Development Zone (SDZ). Dwellings are a mixture of detached, semi-detached and terraced houses, and apartments, all of which achieved a BER "A" rating. The units are typically constructed utilising pre-fabricated floor trusses with traditional cavity wall construction which worked well from a servicing, procurement and programme perspective. We have also worked on a large number of other residential sites which have utilised timber frame and other house build types.

Energy efficiency measures on the Hansfield development have included the provision of PV solar panels to reduce electricity costs, solid masonry walls between houses giving excellent sound insulation, and a high level of insulation and air tightness throughout. From a community aspect, commercial units, which will host local neighbourhood amenities, have been developed at ground level on several apartment blocks in Hansfield as well as a community crèche as part of a recent phase of works.
