The Swords Surgical Hub in the Swords Business Campus is an acute medical facility that aims to reduce the day-case waiting lists at Beaumont Hospital by handling minor elective surgeries and outpatient consultations. The facility was constructed for the Health Service Executive, and forms part of the national development of new surgical hubs.
It is modelled on the Reeves Centre at Tallaght University Hospital supports multiple disciplines such as orthopaedics, ENT, gastroenterology, and urology, among others. It features comprehensive patient facilities, including operating theatres, recovery rooms, and a discharge lounge. Annually, the hub is projected to perform 4,000 day-case procedures, 5,800 minor operations, and 18,500 outpatient visits, enhancing community healthcare accessibility.
The Swords Surgical Hub was developed through the renovation and fit-out of an existing building. Specifically, it is located in the former Hewlett Packard building at Unit 1, Swords Business Campus. This approach involved repurposing the existing structure to accommodate the surgical hub's facilities, including operating theatres, treatment rooms, and patient areas.
